LEGO

I played with Lego after a long time.

I decided to make an "all terrain vehicle", that is, a vehicle that can operate on land, in snow and under water. The machine that I designed is mainly an Airship, but it also has huge skis for snow. There is a special breathing system for it to function underwater and there are tyres for it to move on land.

When I first made the vehicle, it was very flimsy. So I had to rebuild it with more detailed and concentrated effort. I seperated all the parts and put them back in a more sensible way in the new design.

I also added a storage cabin, exhausts and a helicopter on a launchpad on the vehicle. There is also a POWERSTORER. It stores extra power for emergency. It never runs out of power because it runs on solar energy. There is a cannon that shoots really far.

Then I added a bike and an "auto-floater" for working in space. An AUTOFLOATER is like a robot that controlled by a voice-activated-program !

There are FLOOD-BOMB lights in front of the vehicle on top of the power-storer. When its dark and there are baddies, the flood-bomb lights shoot towards the baddies and then there are pipes that generate new bombs-lights.

I even made a story with the Lego characters I have. In my story there was a copy of Batman and my own character "Super-Ninja". I wanted to write all about the story, but Mum she will type it out tomorrow ...

Christmas is in the air !!

London is getting dressed up for Christmas !
I went with Mom and Dad to see the Christmas lights in Central London last week. Central London is such an exciting place !Whenever I go there I feel very enthusiastic and mesmerized, because I get to see all sorts of different things than what I see daily where I stay.

It has wonderful places like London Eye, Big Ben, St. Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Shard, Cheese Grater Building, Gherkin Building, Tower Bridge and many more interesting historical monuments.

We went to see Christmas decorations on Oxford Street. Oxford street is a shopping place. It has so many stylish clothes shops, and many different other shops too. When we got there I was amazed because the whole street was just lighted up high and low!

It felt like I was in a galaxy with many bright planets floating around me !

It seemed like all the people were shopping for christmas. All shops had their windows decorated beautifully, and all shops were playing christmas songs and music.

I  clicked these photos with my little camera !

The street was lit up with lots of peacock feather shaped lights.
The diamond was proabably meat to be the peacock's body with glorious colours !

Apollo 13

I watched Apollo 13 on TV this Sunday with my parents. The movie was about a mission to the Moon. On the way a major problem happened so the astronauts -  Jim, Jack and Fred had to sadly bring the spaceship back to earth before they touched the moon. There were lot of problems that they had to deal with to land back on earth safely.

I remember two problems clearly.

1. When they were on their way back, the carbon dioxide level was too high and oxygen level was reducing. The ground control told them to rip the front cover of their manual, and they had to use a tape to wrap it untill it became a big cube. Then they had to cut a hole and put a sock in it. Then they had to attach a pipe which they had in the spaceship to make some kind of "air-filter".
Then Jim said, " I can hear air moving". So it worked !

2. At another time, the problem was with power. They had to save power to reach back to earth. So they had to switch off everything...even thecomputers and heaters. It was so cold that red wrinkles formed on their eyes. Fred had the most red wrinkles and he felt sick.

Finally they reached earth safely because of all the teams working together.

It is one of the best movies I have seen. I learnt how important it is to work together, support each other and not to blame others when things go wrong.

When Ken (one astronaut who could not go on the mission) was called to help, he did not become upset. He forgot what had happened and solved the power problem by giving them a specific method to follow to make all the lights come on.

It was so fascinating and interesting to watch the astronauts find different ways to solve their different problems. It was cool to watch but it made my mum very tense. Dad had already watched the movie so he did not get tensed.

MYSTRIC MAGIC SCHOOL

I wrote this story inspired by the Harry Potter book I am reading.
It is my first Harry Potter book and I am enjoying it so much,
that I can hardly keep it down at nightime.

...........

It was the most calm day of the week - Sunday.
James Hilton was downstairs watching TV. Whoosh ! Suddenly a letter flew out of nowhere and landed on his lap. He was amazed ! A letter on a Sunday!

A few moments later, before he could open the letter, a red whirlpool came into the room. He was stunned and he was staring at the whirlpool when a door under it opened and Whoo...ooSH, he zoomed inside ! He spun at the speed of a Ferrari ..it made him feel dizzy. SPLASH ! He landed in front of a gate.

The sign on it said "MYSTRIC MAGIC SCHOOL". Just as the the door opened, James saw a machine with many grabbers on it.

Three grabbers crept up to him, grabbed his head and scanned his brain. They declared

"TEAM SUN"

James was stunned. He could not understand what was happening. The grabbers picked him and dropped him in front of TEAM SUN's door. When he entered the room, he saw the walls were coloured in Topaz colour. The teacher was so small that he had to stand on the desk to talk to James !

He waved his wand and books appeared. What interesting topics -

POTIONS - by Lon Keun

DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK SIDE - by Kate Loy

ATTACKING SPELLS - by John Reith

James was so eager to learn , he was already flipping through the pages. But he wanted to see more of this new school. He went into the playground. Children were flying around on brooms instead of running around in the playground. They were playing Tag and even Football on brooms , so not one was getting tired !!

It was such a beautiful sight !

GREAT DISCOVERY ...a story

GREAT DISCOVERY
- Rescue of the aliens -

We had landed on a hard, rocky planet with a lot of craters. We started looking around and found that  one of the craters was more than a mile deep ! Me and Mary (my space partner) decided to explore the deep, dark hole, so we put on our latest-technology suction boots and waddled down the hole.

When we reached the bottom, I picked up some strange stones for study, and then we got out our brushing machine. Just as I started brushing the dust , it cracked some of the stone and we saw a strange kind of A,B,C,D  writing on it. It was very hard to read it because of the curly-wurly lines on the stone. I brushed the A,B,C,D and guess what !!!

A green flash came and the floor started to crack ...slowly and more slowly. We could hear a loud, buzzing sound under our feet. There was a loud 'SNAP' ! And we fell at 15 MPH ! We were tumbling down and one of the cold stones I had collected was thrown.

When we got to see properly, we saw a large slimy puddle. We were going to land in it ! SPLASH ! SPLASH ! SPLASH ! We landed in the sticky gel. We had to do our highest jumps to get out so that we would not be trapped. The walls of the hole were filled with paint-like splats.

They felt like goo. We got out our spades to dig out some of the goo, but just then an odd SQUISHY sound came and the goo transformed into an ALIEN !! And many more little aliens came out of the goo.

The master alien had a white furry hood and the rest of them were the colour of dark tree barks. Their body was very skinny. Their eyes were small and green. Their hands had suction pads at the tips of their fingers. The master's antennas were covered with the hood.

The master alien spoke in a squeaky, robotic voice, "W-e   a-r-e   t-i-r-e-d   o-f   l-i-v-i-n-g   h-e-r-e!"

I was scared at first but then I said, "Ok. Let's go !"

"H-o-w?"

"Don't worry. I have a plan".

I got a gas pipe from my backpack and sprayed it. Because of the gas, a small volcano exploded , the land tilted and made it into a staircase for us.

The alien master thanked me with a golden trophy. It was shaped like a GOO SPLAT. Mary drove us back to earth in our spaceship.

My second poem - WAR

After visiting the Tower of London poppy exhibition, I was trying to find on internet why poppies are used for rememberence. I came across the poem "Flanders Field" and understood the story behind it. My mum explained the meaning of the poem to me.

We also read the poem that was written as an answer to it. Both poems were very touching.

I was very inspired by these poems and I wanted to write of my own. I ripped a paper and quickly wrote a short poem. My mom and dad liked it very much . I also showed it to my teachers in school and read it to the whole school in assembly!!

This is my second poem called - WAR

IMG_20141114_080455

I shoot you on the shoulder
 Then you start to shiver,
We should not be a fool
And be determined to rule
War makes people die
And other people cry
We will be happy to see
World become war-free.

Poppies at Tower of London

Yesterday, I visited the Tower of London with my parents and my friend Priyanshi. We went to see the Poppy art installation which is there to mark the centenary of World War 1. This means that it is now 100 years since World war 1 began.

We went with my mum in the tube, on metropolitan line. I really like travelling by underground trains in London. We played with my Transformers in the train, since our station was a long way from home. Then we met my Dad near his office and walked with him to the Tower of London. There was a lot of crowd to see the Poppy exhibition.

We were lucky because just when we reached we got to hear the bugels play a tune on the speakers. They only play it once every hour, I think. I thought they were playing the national anthem of Britain, but later Priyanshi's dad told us that it was "Last Post" played for fallen soldiers.....even in other parts of the world.

When we got closer it was still crowded, so my dad had to lift us on his shoulders so that we could see better. Finally we got to the front and could see clearly.

IT WAS MIND-BLOWING !!!

DSC_0030

It looked like a millions of poppies were spread all around the Tower ! The theme was 'Sea of blood' and it looked like blood was flowing out of the window and spreading on the ground.

It looked very beautiful, but at the same time, we could understand that 'War is not a good thing'. Dad told me that there were more than 800,000 poppies - for as many soldiers that have died in the past hundred years. It made me feel very angry and depressed.

When we went to a grass pitch near Tower bridge we got a better view. Mum told me that thousands of volunteers had worked day and night to create this scene !
Our visit made me think a lot about Wars.
I am trying to read understand more about World Wars and life during War.

My very first poem - ROSA PARKS

We were learning to write rhyming words and I wrote this poem in school. Because it was Black History month, we were learning about Rosa Parks, who fought for civil rights of  African American black people.

She lived on a farm, and she had a happy life, but when she grew up she found that things were not right in the outside world.  The black and white people were seperated. In old times, black people were called coloured people and they had to go to different schools, waterfountains, toilets, bus-stops.

White people were more comfortable and black people were forced to do different things. In old times it was against law for a black person to sit down at the bus-stop. They had to stand and sometimes had to miss the bus. White people could sit in the front seats of the bust and there was a sign saying 'Coloured people can sit here' at the back of the bus. But if the white people's seats were full, a black person had to give their seats away and stand even if they had a baby or were old.

On a hot, tiring day, Rosa Parks caught a bus. When a white person climbed in she did not give up her seat. She refused to move -  like a plant planted in its space. She did not even talk to the white person. All the white people shouted at her, but she did not budge. She was tired of giving up and felt it was unfair. My poem is aboout her.

I felt very proud when it was chosen to be read in the assembly.

Rosa Parks was on a bus
She decided to make a fuss
Rosa Parks was black
So she had to go to the back
The white people said, “Move”
Rosa Parks said, “No! You are rude”
The white lady told the bus driver,
The bus driver got angrier
The Police took her away
And said, “You cannot stay”
They took her to jail
But she did not fail
In her country,
They said , “Let her go free!”
After over 300 days,
The law finally changed
Because of her,
White and Brown people are together.

Rosh Hashannah

It was a "FESTIVE FRIDAY" in school today. After playtime, Ms Burgess gave us a lesson on the Jewish new year - Rosh Hashannah. She told us that she visited the Synagogue which is "House of Prayer" for the Jewish.

She told us that they celebrate by blowing a trumpet called "Shofar". This is a symbol to scare away demons and bad habits and bring fresh beginnings in new year.

We ate apple dipped in honey.  It was yummmmy !!!
